KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. — After a controversial attempt to re-run for a position she resigned from, Kalamazoo Township’s former treasurer paid a $10,000 settlement to the board.
Following accusations of misconduct, Sherine Miller left her position as treasurer in March after serving in the role for nine years, accepting a $110,000 payout from the township to leave the board.

The township sued her when she put her name on the ballot for the same position she had just left, and after she sued them back, the two reached a settlement agreement on July 13, citing that Miller paid the township $10,000 on June 26, according to township board meeting documents.
The settlement marks an end to the months of back-and-forth between Miller and the township that started when the board stripped her of all responsibilities and censured her twice, once in January and again in February, accusing her of years of financial mismanagement and misconduct…
