Kzoo homeless encampment slated for removal as residents raise complaints

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Along northern Edward Street, tents are huddled together along the sidewalks, representing a home for some and a sign of blight for others. Laminated cards zip-tied to the tents appeared early this week warning residents to vacate the sidewalks by Thursday.

Kelli Buckout is used to the evictions; she’s been homeless for three years.

“I just lost most of everything I own, because I couldn’t move it all fast enough,” she told News 8. I’m 65 years old and I’m disabled and they expect me to move like on a dime and I can’t do that. I can’t do that. So, I just lost lots of everything I did.”…
