BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — Police in Battle Creek arrested a man they say after he tried to meet up with a 14-year-old girl he met online who turned out to be an internet vigilante from northern Michigan.
A northern Michigan resident who operates a website targeting individuals who target children online contacted Battle Creek police Wednesday to alert them that a man intended to meet up with a 14-year-old girl downtown later that day, BCPD said in a release. The tipster said the man, identified as a 23-year-old from Ceresco, had sent sexually explicit photographs and messages to who he believed to be the girl, but who was actually the website’s operator.
