STURGIS, MI — A 19-year-old Sturgis man was taken to a Kalamazoo hospital after a motorcycle crash that followed a police pursuit Thursday afternoon.
The Sturgis Department of Public Safety said the incident began when an officer tried to stop the motorcycle for a traffic violation just before 3:45 p.m. The bike fled, and the officer started chasing it.
Police said the pursuit ended a short time later. A citizen then told the officer the motorcycle had turned onto Maystead Road at a high speed.
