Former KDPS chief Edward P. Edwardson dies at 81

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) is mourning the loss of one of its leaders.

Former Chief Edward P. Edwardson died Sunday at the age of 81, KDPS posted on social media.

He joined KDPS in 1984, and then helped then-Chief John Ross guide the transition from separate police and fire services to a fully integrated public safety model.
