GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Two West Michigan counties have declared a state of emergency amid widespread flooding.
Kalamazoo County and Muskegon County both declared a state of emergency Friday. The National Weather Service has issued flood warnings for both communities.
In Muskegon County, flooding has damaged critical infrastructure including electric utility stems, it said in a release. Private property throughout the county has also been damaged or has the potential to be damaged. In Kalamazoo County, some residents have had their basements flooded.

The Muskegon County Emergency Operations Plan has been activated, according to a release, which includes opening the Muskegon County Emergency Operations Center to coordinate the response. Crews will continue to assess the situation and coordinate debris management and infrastructure response…
