PAW PAW, Mich. — The American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. will host its fourth annual military suicide awareness walk on Sunday in Paw Paw to raise awareness about veteran and active-duty military suicide while also supporting veteran-focused organizations.
The event will take place at Maple City Veterans Memorial Park, located at 510 E. Michigan Ave. Registration begins at noon, with the 2.2-mile walk starting at 1 p.m.
Organizers said the 2.2-mile distance is meant to symbolize what advocates have long referred to as the “22 a day” veteran suicide crisis, referring to the estimated number of veterans lost to suicide daily…
