The Green Duck to be torn down nearly a month after fire, owner fighting to save it

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) — It’s been nearly a month since flames and smoke destroyed most of the historic Green Duck in East Kansas City. It is now set for demolition due to the fire damage, according to the City of Kansas City, Missouri.

“The name itself, Green Duck, was just historic,” said Rodney Dowdy, who lives near The Green Duck.

On Sunday, May 31, Kansas City, Missouri firefighters were called to the Green Duck after heavy flames and smoke were coming from the building.

KCFD said the building was not occupied and no one was hurt…
