Two more suspects are now facing charges in connection with the discovery of a Kansas City woman’s body in southeastern Saline County.
34-year-old Joseph Kitara of Independence and 35-year-old Brianna Nicole Willis of Kansas City are now facing charges that they abandoned the body of 41-year-old Amber Simpson on a property southwest of Nelson. According to court documents, an anonymous tip phoned into the Kansas City, Mo. Police Department in mid-June accused Willis of killing the victim and then having the body burned at a Saline County residence. KCPD and the Saline County Sheriff’s Office then served a search warrant on a residence along 116th Road, where they say human remains were discovered in a burn pile, which were later identified as belonging to Simpson. The property is owned by 54-year-old Damon Thomason, who along with 30-year-old Felix Watson Jr is facing similar charges.
Deputies say that during questioning, Thomason and Watson identified Kitara and Willis as being present on Thomason’s property the morning of May 28. That’s when officers allege that Simpson’s body was placed in a burn pile on the southern portion of the property and burned multiple times. Authorities say cellphone data also places Kitara in the Nelson area that morning, before he allegedly led the Missouri State Highway Patrol on a chase down Interstate 70 that resulted in his arrest in Independence. Kitara has since been held without bond on charges stemming from the chase. Willis was arrested over the weekend in Kansas City and is being held without bond in Jackson County…
