Jury selection began Monday in Jackson County Circuit Court in downtown Kansas City in the long-awaited trial of Fredrick Demond Scott, the man accused of being the Indian Creek serial killer.
Opening statements in the case are expected Thursday, according to a court spokesman. Jackson County Judge Charles McKenzie is presiding over the case.
Scott, 31, has been accused in the killings of Steven Gibbons, 57; John Palmer, 54; David Lenox, 67; Timothy S. Rice, 57; Mike Darby, 61, and Karen Harmeyer, 64. The killings took place between 2016 and Scott’s arrest in August 2017…
