INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) – As crowds gather for the holiday weekend, organizers of the annual SantaCaliGon Days festival in Independence are taking extra precautions to keep attendees safe from extreme heat.
Festival organizers have set up multiple cooling stations, shaded rest tents, and have medical professionals stationed throughout the grounds ready to assist anyone experiencing heat-related issues.
Ashley Welchert, speaking on behalf of the safety efforts, emphasized the importance of preparation.
“I recommend if you’re going to be out and about in this heat, make sure you stay hydrated,” Welchert said. “Have a nice, good meal before you get out. If anybody has any serious medical conditions, make sure you limit your time in the heat. Have a plan to cool down and have a resting spot.”…
