Zona Rosa’s Central Park fills up Saturday with pumpkins, bounce houses, and food trucks as the fifth annual Fall Fest returns to the Northland shopping district from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free event includes 1,250 pumpkins available for decorating while supplies last, Lego building stations, and interactive activities from Science City, plus community partner booths and festive photo opportunities scattered throughout the park.
A Free Day of Fall Activities for Families
According to KMBC, the festival is free to attend and packs in a mix of hands-on fun for kids alongside grown-up perks like fall cocktails and beer. Food trucks including Ghost Kitchen, Bao Wowz, and Scimeca’s Sausage will be parked around Central Park, giving families plenty of options between activities. A pop-up shopping market rounds out the day, drawing more than 60 local vendors and small businesses to the space.
That market is co-organized by Farfalla Events, which also partners with Zona Rosa on its summer festival and the annual Festa Italiana, bringing a rotating roster of small businesses to the shopping center throughout the year. Science City is contributing its own slice of the day, running hands-on science activities and tabletop STEM demonstrations between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The 100,000-square-foot interactive science center, housed inside Kansas City’s historic Union Station, features more than 300 interactive exhibits across three floors.
Bring a Mac and Cheese Cup, Help a Hungry Kid
Attendees are encouraged to bring mac and cheese cups to support Feed Northland Kids, which uses the donations to help stock school food pantries. The nonprofit estimates that more than 12,000 children across Missouri’s Clay and Platte counties currently experience food insecurity, meaning they lack reliable access to the affordable, nutritious food needed for growth and learning, according to Feed Northland Kids. Founded in 2010 as the Northland Childhood Hunger Initiative, the organization runs in-school pantries and Community Food Kit programs.

Fall Fest’s return comes as Zona Rosa itself is in the middle of a makeover. A September 14, 2026, CTO Realty Growth announcement on GlobeNewswire says the 64-acre site draws roughly 5.5 million visits a year and sits just six miles from Kansas City International Airport, whose terminal recently underwent a $1.5 billion overhaul that increased regional traffic. The property was previously managed by Fort Worth-based Trademark Property Company…
