First parking, traffic plans released for possible downtown Royals stadium

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The group working with the Kansas City Royals to come up with a parking and traffic plan released some of their strategies for a possible downtown stadium.

They stress none of this is final until Jackson County voters weigh in on April 2 .

“We’ve got the physical infrastructure by and large to support, it’s really that management of the infrastructure we have,” Kimley-Horn Senior Transportation Engineer Jeff McKerrow said.

One day after proposed community benefit agreements were released, the group working with the Royals to alleviate concerns surrounding parking and traffic congestion presented ideas for those very issues.

Top of mind for them maintaining parking and accessibility for current businesses in the area where much of those concerns reside.

While they couldn’t make promises on exactly how that would work, they listed thoughts, including making sure said spots were reserved and adding some sort of patrol.
