Man found guilty in 2017 shooting of Lyft driver in Liberty

LIBERTY, Mo. — A 34-year-old Excelsior Springs man is convicted for the October 2017 shooting of a Lyft driver .

A Clay County jury found Patrick Pulse guilty of first-degree assault and armed criminal action.

On October 29, 2017, the victim, Antoine Roston, was picking up a passenger at The Landing Eatery in Liberty when Pulse, a fellow Lyft driver, who Roston had never met, approached the victim’s vehicle, shouted an expletive at him, shot him six times and then spit on him.

Witnesses told police after the shooting Pulse left the scene, but officers later arrested him. During the arrest, Pulse told police he had gotten into an argument over his girlfriend.

Bullets hit the Roston near his left shoulder area, in his right jaw and in the back of his head.

The victim was released from the hospital nearly a month later .

Antoine told FOX4 back in 2017 that he had forgiven Pulse for shooting and spitting on him.
