KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A woman was shot and a man was injured after a woman’s dog got loose and attacked a man and his dog in Lawrence on Monday.
The shooting happened around noon on Ash Street between 7th and 8th streets.

According to Lawrence police, the man stopped the attack by shooting the attacking dog and killing it, but he also struck the dog’s owner’s leg while they were trying to restrain the dog.
The woman was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The man was seen by medics at the scene but declined further treatment.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
