A woman from Independence was killed Monday morning after being struck by a pickup truck in Jackson County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The incident occurred at about 8:55 a.m. on May 4 at Highway 50 and Smart Road.
Authorities said a 2024 Ram 3500 was traveling eastbound when a pedestrian entered its path. The passenger-side mirror of the pickup struck the woman.
