Jackson County Executive race field set after chaotic filing period closes for good

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The field is finally set for Jackson County executive — and it has been anything but a smooth road to get here.

Seven candidates are now in the race after the filing period closed for a second time Tuesday. It reopened for five days after interim Executive Phil LeVota dropped out, allowing two new candidates to enter: current Legislative Chair Manny Abarca and former Jackson County legislator Dan Tarwater.
