Town Topic Hamburgers announces Broadway location will no longer be 24 hours

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Town Topic Hamburgers has announced their restaurant on Broadway will no longer operate 24 hours, citing safety concerns tied to the area.

The Kansas City staple announced on Facebook they will be closing at 8 p.m. moving forward. The restaurant says crime in the area, especially a shooting on April 26th, has strained their ability keep their staff and customers safe during overnight hours.

The restaurant says the trouble stems from a parking lot next to them which is owned by an out-of-state company. Town Topic says unruly crowds loiter in the parking lot where the April shooting happened and they have been unable to keep the area secure.

“We are forever thankful for the continued support from our customers, who have made Town Topic into what is today,” the restaurant wrote. “Our number one priority is to provide a safe place for those customers, our staff, and the community who have supported us for the past 89 years.”…
