Record heat today. Some severe weather possible through the weekend, but Monday’s the one to watch

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Here comes the heat! Hot 90s today, with scattered storms possible tonight and at times through the weekend. These will be mainly nighttime rounds, but they may occur early enough to impact some weekend evening plans. A few storms could be severe during these times, but the highest risk will come Monday. Monday has been upgraded to a First Warn Weather Day.

Friday begins mostly sunny and warm with temperatures in the mid 60s this morning. Expect mostly sunny skies to persist into the afternoon with highs reaching around 92 degrees—breaking the record of 91 set in 1941. Humidity will increase slightly, which may make temperatures feel a couple degrees hotter. There is a low storm chance between 4 and 8 pm, but the odds of these getting going are just 20%.
