Two seriously injured after overnight head-on crash in Independence

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) – Two drivers were hospitalized – one with life-threatening injuries – after a head-on crash in Independence over the weekend, police said.

The Independence Police Department said the crash happened just after 12:35 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, near 23rd and Woodland St.

According to investigators, a 2011 Mitsubishi sedan was headed east on 23rd St. when it crossed into the westbound lanes and struck a 2014 Jeep Wrangler head-on.

Emergency crews indicated that they had to extricate both drivers from their vehicles before transporting them to a nearby hospital…
