Job-seekers and nearby residents in Fort Bend County could all feel the effects of Tesla’s latest expansion pitch in Texas, as new documents obtained by ABC13 show the company is seeking tax breaks for a proposed solar manufacturing plant.
If the project moves forward, it could help expand the domestic supply of clean-energy equipment. Still, the station noted the plan is uncertain.

That’s because Tesla is banking on state assistance for a proposed solar factory in Fort Bend County, as ABC13 reported. The planned location is near Needville at FM 1994 and FM 762, with construction eyed for 2028 and operations slated to start in 2029.
In materials filed with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, Kroll said on Tesla’s behalf that the facility “would be expected to manufacture photovoltaic solar cells and/or assembled solar modules, which are components used to convert sunlight into electricity.”…
