Ex-FHP captain pleads ‘not guilty’ in ChampionsGate pay scheme

CHAMPIONSGATE, Fla. – A former Florida Highway Patrol captain has pleaded “not guilty” in a major off-duty pay scheme, according to court records obtained by News 6.

Those records reveal that the former trooper — identified as Lenita King, 63, of Haines City — now also has an attorney to represent her. That attorney entered the not-guilty plea on Tuesday and waived King’s arraignment.

She and Trooper Maurice Vilsaint, 42, were booked in Osceola County last week as part of the case, in which investigators said the duo billed a Central Florida community for off-duty security work they never actually performed, arrest affidavits show…
