Suspended driver arrested with drugs and a glass pipe

A Davenport man was arrested on drug charges after being stopped with narcotics and a glass pipe.

An officer stopped a Ford Excursion for a cracked windshield violation at Rolling Acres Road and U.S. Hwy. 27/441 around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. He then learned that the driver, 45-year-old Matthew Barr Young, had a suspended license for failure to pay a traffic fine.

A K-9 unit subsequently responded to the scene and asked if there was anything illegal inside the vehicle. Young handed over a clear cellophane wrapper with two grams of marijuana. He and the passenger did not possess medical marijuana licenses, the report said.

They were asked to exit the vehicle as the officers began to search it. Law enforcement found a burnt marijuana cigarette on the dashboard, two clear plastic baggies with 4 grams of methamphetamine on the floorboard, and a glass “bubble” pipe with residue, the report said…
