Orlando weather: Rain chances ramp up Friday before weekend storms arrive

The Brief

  • As an upper-level low moves into Central Florida, rain chances increase for the area.
  • Scattered showers and storms are expected in parts of Central Florida on Friday.
  • Rain chances ramp up over the weekend and continue into next week.

ORLANDO, Fla. The drier air that helped hold rain chances down Thursday is fading as an upper-level low moves into Florida from the east today.

That means a noticeably wetter pattern today, especially in our coastal counties, with scattered to locally numerous showers and storms developing from late morning into the afternoon.

Rain chances:

  • 20-30% Orlando, and northwest of I-4
  • 40-60% across most of the rest of Central Florida

Because colder air aloft is moving overhead, an outside chance exists that a few storms could become strong this afternoon and evening.
