Rain and thunderstorm chances increase this afternoon

A line of showers and thunderstorms will push through this afternoon. Almost all of the Tennessee Valley is under a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for stronger storms. The main threats will be damaging winds, torrential rainfall, and frequent lightning.

A few showers are already out and about this morning, but rain chances will increase throughout the day. A line of showers and thunderstorms will begin moving through around 2 PM and continue tracking eastward. By early evening, most of the rainfall should be out of the area, though a few isolated showers behind the line will remain possible. High temperatures today will reach the mid-80s.

As the workweek begins, temperatures, humidity, and rain chances will all decrease. Only a slight chance of a pop-up shower is expected, with highs in the low 80s on both Monday and Tuesday before warming into the mid-80s by Wednesday…
