Orphaned bear cubs get second chance as Tennessee rescue resumes rehabilitation

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — For orphaned black bear cubs in Tennessee, a second chance at life in the wild is back.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and Appalachian Bear Rescue announced Thursday that the Townsend-based facility will once again accept orphaned black bear cubs for rehabilitation.

The move comes after the construction of new bear enclosures and updated health protocols designed to better protect both cubs in rehabilitation and Tennessee’s wild bear population.
