KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – While most people experience summer heat in short bursts, outdoor workers in the Knoxville area are spending their entire workdays in it — and a local roofing foreman says heat exhaustion can take someone down before they even see it coming.
Josh Mushenski has spent about 15 years working outdoor jobs, the last three managing a roofing crew in the Knoxville area. Under a heat warning in effect through the end of the week, Mushenski said he is not just watching the work — he is watching his crew.
“If they’re working a little bit differently than they normally are — whether they’re pale, just not working right, or they’re working really slow, that’s good signs right there,” Mushenski said…
