Letter to the Editor:
People ask me why they should vote for my sister for County Commission, and the answer is easy. There were five of us growing up. Four of us were athletes, while Ebony was the scholar. She was a Duke TIP student, took her first ACT in middle school, and always had a book in her hand. While we chased footballs, basketballs, baseballs, and cheerleading, she quietly worked toward her own dreams.
What I remember most is how much she sacrificed for us. Our mom was a nurse who often worked back-to-back shifts. So Ebony, along with our grandparents, helped Mom raise us. She drove us to practices, made sure we got to games, helped pay sports fees, insisted we read and write book reports, and never let money keep us from an opportunity…
