MARYVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Blount County Commission on Thursday approved a plan to acquire a 160-site in Alcoa for redevelopment.
By a 19-2 vote, commissioners OK’d an agreement with the Industrial Development Board of Blount County to purchase 160 acres of land around a former aluminum smelting facility which closed in 2009.
The acquisition is expected to cost $20 million with Blount County shouldering 40% of the cost while Alcoa and Maryville will split the remaining cost…
