KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Since the start of summer, many school buildings in our area have not been quiet and empty. Several counties are working on rehabbing aging school buildings.
In Knox County, a new school is in the works to serve Kindergarten through eighth grade students in Mechanicsville, Lonsdale and Beaumont. And in Jefferson County, the district voted to renovate, rather than rebuild, Jefferson Elementary, with asbestos abatement a major part of the summertime work.
