KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Five people are facing charges after they allegedly created a rolling roadblock to drag race on an East Tennessee interstate.
According to court records obtained by WVLT News, a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper was driving eastbound on Interstate 140, commonly known as Pellissippi Parkway, when he saw traffic begin to slow down because of “at least 3 vehicles intentionally riding in a group and slowing traffic down” just after midnight on Sunday.
As they did that, the trooper saw two cars directly in front of them “set up directly next to each other” before speeding away in a drag race, records said. While the trooper did not catch their speed on the radar, he estimated they were speeding “in the high 90s entering the 100s” when he turned on his emergency lights to pull them over…
