KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — When asked what the biggest needs are in the city, Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon responded that people always say, “we need more housing.”
On Aug. 24, Mayor Kincannon joined community partners and leaders to celebrate the opening of four new affordable homes in East Knoxville with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Holston Village. These one-bedroom homes are specifically designed for residents that come from modest incomes who are aged 62 or older, or who have disabilities.

Each home is designed to be “visitable,” meaning that residents and visitors can enter without having to navigate steps. One of the four homes is fully accessible under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
