Pasta was piled into tasting cups, bluegrass filled the room, and a Knoxville tradition marked its 20th year Saturday night — all with a larger purpose behind the fun.
Family Promise of Knoxville held its 20th Annual Pasta & Bluegrass Festival Aug. 22, bringing together churches, volunteers and supporters to raise money for families facing homelessness and housing instability. The festival is the nonprofit’s signature annual fundraiser.
Guests moved from table to table, receiving samplings of pasta recipes prepared by area congregations before casting votes for their favorites. Participating churches included Ball Camp Baptist, Church of the Ascension, Church of the Good Samaritan, Church of the Good Shepherd, First Baptist Church of Knoxville, First Presbyterian Church, Fountain City Presbyterian, Powell Presbyterian and Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church…
