Rain chances increase heading into the weekend

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Looking ahead, we have chances of showers throughout the weekend and the possibility of more seasonal weather by this time next week.

THURSDAY: Temperatures are nearing record-breaking levels, with a forecast high in Knoxville expected to reach 94 degrees. The previous record, set in 1931, was 95 degrees. Skies will be partly cloudy, and conditions will remain mostly dry. However, there will be slight chances of spotty showers in the afternoon, primarily affecting our far eastern counties, while many of the western counties near the plateau are likely to stay dry.

FRIDAY: We still anticipate temperatures in the 90s on Friday afternoon. Rain is expected to begin in the afternoon, with scattered thunderstorms possibly developing in southern Kentucky and moving southward overnight. The rain should clear by morning…
