KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The University of Tennessee, Knoxville will unveil a statue honoring Tennessee Athletics Hall of Fame inductee and prominent donor Jim Haslam on Friday.
The statue will be unveiled at the north entrance of the Neyland-Thompson Sports Center at 5 p.m. in a ceremony featuring remarks from Director of Athletics Danny White, University of Tennessee Chancellor Donde Plowman, Mr. Bill Haslam and Mr. Jim Haslam.

Haslam was a football player and team captain when Tennessee won the 1951 national championship under head coach Gen. Robert Neyland. As a businessman, he grew Pilot Flying J into one of the nation’s largest privately held companies and given back to the university in a variety of ways over the years.
He is a former vice chair of the UT Board of Trustees, a founding member of the UT Foundation Board of Directors, chairman of the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center for Public Policy Board of advisors, and a lifetime member of the Haslam College of Business Dean’s Advisory Council…
