KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Red Bull is returning to the banks of the Tennessee River in Knoxville, offering people the chance to participate in a wacky head-to-head competition ahead of the Volunteers’ showdown with top-ranked Texas.
The popular energy drink brand is bringing the Red Bull Championship Run to Volunteer Landing Park in Downtown Knoxville on Friday, September 25.

The contest pits two participants in a head-to-head race up a greased, inclined goalpost that extends over the river. The participant who can successfully grab the flag at the end in the quickest time will advance to an elimination-style bracket to determine the overall winner.
The event will kick off at 4:00 p.m. Those looking to try their luck in the race can join the participation wait list on Red Bull’s website for a $10 fee. Spectators are welcome to watch the competition in person.
