‘Senior assassin’ games prompt warnings from law enforcement agencies: ‘It’s not smart’

(NEXSTAR) – Police departments across the U.S. are warning students against participating in a widespread high-school tradition known as “senior assassin.”

Usually played by soon-to-be graduates, the student-run game tasks teens with seeking out their fellow seniors and eliminating them from play by attacking them with squirt guns or other toy weapons like Nerf guns or gel-pellet guns.

“You are assigned a target and you have to go get your target out with a water gun, and there’s also someone targeting you,” a student told Nexstar’s WGN of the rules in 2025…
