Man arrested after fake bomb threat leads to evacuation of Knoxville grocery store

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A man is facing charges after a false bomb thread led to the evacuation of a Kroger in Fountain City on Tuesday.

According to Knoxville Police, Mark Langley, 30, was arrested and is facing charges including making a false bomb threat report, disorderly conduct, and public intoxication.

Knoxville Police officers responded to the Kroger in the 5200 block of North Broadway around 2 p.m. to investigate reports that a man, later identified as Langley, was acting erratically and made statements that a bomb had been placed at the store.

As a precaution, Kroger management evacuated the store until officers cleared the scene. Members and K-9s with Knoxville Police’s Hazardous Device Unit and University of Tennessee Police Department K-9 teams responded to the store to check for explosives…
