If you’ve been looking forward to the return of good outdoor-concert weather, your favorite time of year is about to welcome its opening act. Knoxville’s Concerts on the Square will bring live music back to Market Square for free performances beginning in May.
Jazz musicians will perform on the square 7-9 p.m. each Tuesday night during May, June and July, starting May 5. The Jazz Tuesdays lineup is:
- May 5: Sam Adams Quartet
- May 12: Bruno Osega-Rios Septet
- May 19: Larry Vincent Quartet
- May 26: Ken Brown Quartet
- June 2: Margherita Fava Quartet
- June 9: Donald Brown and Friends
- June 16: Shawn P. Turner and Pinky Ring
- June 23: Vance Thompson Quartet
- June 30: Aaron Irwin Trio
- July 7: Denin Slage-Koch
- July 14: Mark Boling Trio
- July 21: Taber Gable
- July 28: Jon Hamar Trio
Third Thursday concerts from May through September will feature a variety of of musical styles 7-9 p.m. at Market Square:
- May 21: Tim Decker and TN River, a family-friendly bluegrass show
- June 18: Dancing Machine: Tribute Band to the Jacksons, in collaboration with Beck Cultural Exchange Center for Juneteenth
- July 16: Tidalwave Road, bluegrass band
- Aug. 20: Pink Houses: The Ultimate Mellencamp Experience, paying homage to heartland rocker John Cougar Mellencamp
- Sept. 17: Square Dancing on the Square
