‘Dangerous’ suspect sought after deputy dragged during traffic stop in Anderson County

ANDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who they say is dangerous and fled a traffic stop Thursday evening, dragging a deputy with his vehicle.

The sheriff’s office said it is searching for Joshua Sykes on charges of assault on a first responder, evading arrest, resisting arrest, and simple possession.

Just before 11 p.m. Thursday, Anderson County Sheriff’s deputies attempted a traffic stop on Oak Ridge Highway at Cedar Hills Drive involving Sykes. The sheriff’s office said that during the stop, Sykes evaded the deputies and dragged one of the deputies with his vehicle, creating a dangerous situation for everyone involved.

ACSO explained that after fleeing the stop, Sykes crashed his vehicle in the 1100 block of Laurel Road and ran from the scene. The sheriff’s office added that anyone who sees Sykes should not approach him because he is considered dangerous.
