Warrants: Former KCSO sergeant faces felony charges after using Food City self-checkout to steal 26 times

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A former Knox County Sheriff’s Office sergeant is facing charges after he stole more than $1,300 in merchandise over a two-month period using self-checkout registers, according to warrants.

Benjamin Munro is charged with computer offense and theft of property between $1,000 and $2,500. The thefts happened 26 separate times at a Food City on Loves Creek Road beginning March 1, warrants state.

KCSO confirmed to WBIR that Munro was fired on May 1, the same day an investigator met with a complainant at the City-County Building. The complainant had surveillance video which showed Munro not scanning items at a self-checkout register, according to warrants…
