All lanes of Interstate 40 have reopened at the North Carolina-Tennessee border after a truck crash. Major backups are expected to persist.
I-40 was closed in both directions the morning and afternoon of May 8 near Cold Springs Creek in Haywood County, North Carolina, as crews worked to clear the crash, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The nearest exit is 447/Hartford Road.
