Knoxville police investigating after man found shot dead, no suspect identified

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Knoxville Police Department is investigating what officers think is a homicide that happened at a Knoxville apartment.

It happened around 5:20 p.m. Sunday, according to KPD, when officers responded to a welfare check at 1100 Lula Powell Drive. Once they got inside, officers found a man unresponsive; the man, who had been shot, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to KPD Communications Manager Scott Erland.

“The victim, an adult man who has not yet been positively identified, was transported to the Regional Forensic Center for further examination and identification,” Erland said. “There is no suspect information, and the investigation remains in the preliminary stages at this time. More information will be shared as the investigation progresses.”…
