Knoxville moves to fight invasive plants like kudzu in city parks

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The City of Knoxville is fighting back against “the vine that ate the South” and other invasive plants. City councilmembers on Tuesday approved funding aimed at reducing the impacts to local park landscapes.

$80,000 of state grant funding towards invasive-species control. Four contractors will begin applying safe levels of herbicides to fight invasives in parks so that native species can eventually be planted to promote long-term healthy ecosystems.
