Watertown softball exited the Class 3A playoffs on Saturday in the TSSAA sectional round.
The Purple Tigers fell to Alcoa, 17-2, to end the spring a win short of a return trip to Murfreesboro. They made the long journey east after finishing runner-up in Region 4-3A, but a hot-hitting Lady Tornado team ended its hopes of a third TSSAA state tournament berth.
“I’m extremely proud of them,” Watertown interim coach Corey Buhler said. “They were faced with a no-win situation. They won a district championship and finished region runner-up, and come up here, get a chance to play at the 3A (sectional). We ran into Alcoa last year in the state tournament at 2A…
