KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The first thing Maggie Savage thought as she watched her students cross the field at graduation was: Did we do enough to prepare them to face the world?
The future is wide open, but it is always uncertain. Yet these graduates won’t have to face it alone. In her five years as an ELL teacher at Austin-East Magnet High, Savage had come to love this school where people celebrate each other and lean on one another.

“This is a special school and a special part of town,” she said.
Savage also reminded herself of the students’ skills and potential, all they have to offer the world. After that, she felt excited to see where their journeys would bring them next…
