Athletes from all over Greene County are beginning their quests for state championships this week as the TSSAA’s Spring Fling gets underway.
On Tuesday athletes from all five local schools will arrive at Tom Black Track on the campus of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville looking to head home with gold medals around their necks.
Greeneville distance runner Trey Bailey will be looking to capture a state championship in three events. He is the returning state champion in the Class AA 3,200 meters and has the best time in the state in the event in Class AA this season. Bailey will also run in the 1,600 meters where he set a career best in the state sectionals, and is the top seeded runner at the state meet.
