LSP, others search near Lawtell related to 30-year-old Rayne missing person case

LAWTELL, La. (NEWS 15) — St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz reported that Louisiana State Police and other agencies are conducting a search in the Lawtell area related to a decades-old missing person case, but his office was not notified about it.

“This afternoon, it came to the attention of my office that a search was being conducted in the Lawtell area of a missing person from the Rayne area approximately 30 years ago,” Guidroz explained. “Elements of the Louisiana State Police and others chose to initiate a search on private property, without any notification to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.”

News 15 has learned the search is tied to the disappearance of Donna Marie Gonzales on a property along U.S. 190 outside of Lawtell. Gonzales disappeared in 1992 while working in Rayne.
