Opelousas General Hospital donates $20K to honor longtime Park Vista Principal Ulysse Joubert

OPELOUSAS, La. (NEWS 15) — Opelousas General Hospital donated $20,000 to fund a playground at Park Vista Elementary School named in honor of longtime St. Landry Parish educator Ulysse Joubert, who died unexpectedly in late May.

The donation was made on Friday to establish the Ulysse Joubert Playground at Park Vista Elementary. Joubert, who was 78, died from congestive heart failure.

Joubert served as principal of Park Vista Elementary for 35 years and spent six decades as an educator in St. Landry Parish. He was remembered as one of the community’s most recognizable leaders and for shaping generations of students throughout his career…
