The Lafayette City Council approved a conditional use permit for a downtown cigar lounge to sell alcohol that earlier had been unanimously voted down by the city zoning commission.
The City Council voted 3-2 on Tuesday to approve the permit for Ashes II Ashes, 403-B S. Buchanan St., to legally operate as a bar, a requirement for anyone looking to do so in Lafayette’s downtown area. The bar would be separate from the cigar lounge since smoking in bars is not allowed in Lafayette.
